Anxiety. We all deal with it from time to time, even our pups! With July quickly approaching, I’m prepping for the loud fireworks that always make my pup so anxious. This year, I want to make sure I’m ready to calm Dimples with whatever he needs because those scary bangs are his worst enemy! If this sounds like your pup too, I’ve rounded up my 5 favorite ways to help an anxious pup, anytime of year.

White Noise

Distractions can be a huge help for an anxious dog. White noise is used all the time at shelters to block out the outside noises. It's even been shown to lower their cortisol (stress) levels and respiratory rate.

Green Gruff Supplements

An anxious pup is an unhappy pup. Green Gruff Dog Supplements are here to change that! These CBD Chews for dogs have 9 essential amino acids and contain more iron than spinach. Dimples loves them, so we give him one every morning for the most impact and health benefits. They contain the perfect amount of CBD to help him get through those long nights of fireworks. The RELAX chews have helped Dimples say goodbye to shaking, nervousness, and anxiety all summer long. Other than RELAX, we picked up the EASE Joint & Hip Chews, and SOOTHE Skin & Coat Chews. EASE has been amazing for reducing his hip pain by boosting cartilage repair, aiding in tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and enhancing joint lubrication. I love knowing that giving him these chews now will help to keep him stay more active as he ages! If you have an itchy pup like mine, SOOTHE is for you! It reduces itching, dry skin, and helps maintain a healthy, shiny coat. Trust me, your pup will thank you! Physical Activity

If you’ve ever put in a few reps at the gym to boost your mood or help ease anxiety, you know how much better you can feel afterwards. Man’s best friend is the same way! Exercise during the day time, or whenever there aren’t scary noises outside, can help release positive chemicals in both you and your pup! Plus, tiring them out can help them sleep soundly through the night.

Create a Safe Space

We all want to feel safe, dogs included. Whether it’s their favorite blanket, a comfy bed, or an enclosed crate, creating a safe space for them to enter and exit on their own is so important. If they’ve already chosen their safe spot, like under the dining room table, make it a comfortable spot. Adding in a few old t-shirts that smell like you wouldn’t hurt, either!

Calming Vest

Do you know how weighted blankets are great for pressure stimulation? A calming vest is the dog version of a weighted blanket! They’re meant to apply a slight hugging pressure to calm their nervous system, especially during fireworks or thunderstorms. The vests are fairly affordable and come in a range of sizes, too.

Having an anxious dog can cause us to have more anxiety, and that’s not what we need in our lives! Green Gruff Supplements have been a game changer for Dimples, so we’ll be stocked up all season. Are you implementing any of these tips into your dog’s routine? Let me know how much calmer they are below!
