Places to Eat in Deep Creek Lake MD

Another summer means another amazing family trip to Deep Creek Lake! For years, we’ve been taking the trip down to Maryland to enjoy some old traditions while also checking out what’s new in the area. Spending the week away at Deep Creek can be as relaxing as it is entertaining, so it’s perfect for families of all sizes.

If you’re looking to plan your next trip, I got you! Check out my Deep Creek itinerary for must-see views, the best restaurants, and tons of things for kids to enjoy. Vacation planning: done! See our itinerary below for a week worth of activities!

Day 1

Deep Creek Lake State Park
A free place for the kids to get some energy out is essential! We stop here the first day after the long car ride so we can stretch our legs and get moving. If we ever run out of ideas for the day, this playground is our go-to spot. Plus, it’s super clean and well maintained. There’s a beach there, too!

Lavender Fields
Another free stop, the Deep Creek Lavender Farm currently has nearly 1500 lavender plants! Their farm store has a great selection of lavender products including soaps, teas, jams, candles, and home essentials. PS, the lavender lemonade was soooo good! They’re only open Friday-Monday, so make you sure stop in!

Brenda’s Pizzaria
After a long first day at the lake, stop by Brenda’s Pizzaria for carry-out or get it delivered! They have the best pizza, salad, sandwiches, and pasta around. Our favorite is The Firecracker made with three cheeses, jalapenos, sweet and spicy sauce, and more!

Day 2

Discovery Center
The Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park holds daily activities for kids that allow your family to see the native plants and flowers. Hike the trails to see even more of the beauty that Maryland has to offer! Don’t forget to stop by their aviary, too!

Bear Creek Traders
If you want to get some shopping in, Bear Creek Traders is great for some souvenirs. They have some cozy sweatshirts that I can’t pass up! If the kids are getting a bit grumpy at this point, it would be a great time for a nap while everyone else is out shopping. Shhh, I won’t tell if you take a little nap too!

Swallow Falls State Park
Nap time is over, so it’s time to get out hiking! Swallow Falls State Park is home to Muddy Creek Falls, a 53-foot waterfall that is absolutely breathtaking! The trail is about 1 1/4 miles long, so put on your hiking boots and catch some of the best views in the area.

Day 3

Aquatic/Rec Center
If you’re still a little tired from yesterday, that’s ok! The Aquatic Recreation Center has two indoor pools that’s perfect for a calm day. My kids love their heated spa pool! While you’re at the center, they also offer free weight equipment, yoga, cycling, spinning, and more. Pricing is as follows - 0-6 years: $2, 7-12 years: $5, Adult Day Pass: $15, Family (4 people) Pass: $30.

Ace’s Run Restaurant & Pub
We always go to Ace’s when we’re in Deep Creek because we love eating great food and seeing the lake views. Their menu changes seasonally and they cook with locally grown and raised items. Ben absolutely loves their Marsh Mountain Burger piled high with fried pickles, and their Atlantic Salmon Burger is my personal favorite!

Day 4

Boat Tours and Rentals
If the adults need a little time away, it’s time to go on the water. While the kids are napping, you can hop on your own jet ski, or rent from a local water-sports company. The can be a splurge, but are so much fun to drive! If you have a crazy family like mine, you’ll be sure to make tons of memories out on the water. Kayaks, paddle boards, and pontoon boats are also available for rent if those are more your speed. They also have boat tours!

Lakeside Creamery
Once we’re done swimming, we head home to shower, eat some left overs, and get ready to go out to our favorite place: the creamery! Their homemade ice cream is to die for. We can’t resist taking a pint for the road so we can enjoy it while we’re home, too!

Day 5

Trader’s Coffee House
Start your morning at Trader’s Coffee House for grab and go drinks, food, and pastries! They offer vegan and gluten-free goodies and their cold brew is a MUST.

Wisp Rope Course
After your morning coffee, head to The Wisp Resort. Wisp offers different ropes courses to keep everyone in the family active. The Chipmunk Challenge Course is 500 feet of cable, featuring 2 zips and 6 obstacles. It was designed for kids ages 4+ at least 40 pounds and cost $19. It’s lower to the ground so there' are less chances for them to get hurt. For the adults, there’s the Spider Monkey Adventure. It also costs $19 and is for kids 6+ as we had to suit up in a harness and helmet before climbing the steps up to the platform. The different obstacles made this adventure so much fun! Plus, there’s a view of Deep Creek Lake off in the distance when you’re at the top that is so gorgeous.

Day 6

Bradford Park
Bradford Park is a great place to stop in for the kids to play on the playground or in the lake. You pay $4 per car ($5 on the weekend), and have the option for boat rentals. The beach area is perfect for working on your tan or throwing a football with friends.

Deep Creek Lake Fun Zone
Smiley’s Fun Zone is a great place to get out of the sun and enjoy some AC while the kids (and husbands haha!) play arcade games. They also offer old time photos, pizza, ice cream, go carts, bumper boats, batting cages, laser tag, mini golf, and even more. Thursday-Sunday, Smiley’s is the place to be!

Dutch’s at Silver Tree
Get dressed up and end the week at Dutch’s at Silver Tree for a great dinner before heading home. They offer a beautiful view of the lake and even a playground for the kids to run around. They have the best cocktails and bread around!

Going to Deep Creek Lake is a tradition that my family has had for years and I hope it continues for years to come. If you’re ever by DCL, let me know your must-visit stops and shops below!
