A new season is the perfect time for new family photos! This year, we wanted to go for a sportier look for our seasonal shoot and the boys could not have been happier! I love that with adidas, our family can stay on trend, yet work so well with our active lifestyles. This time, I wanted to prepare ahead of time to make sure everything went smoothly. In the past, this kind of photoshoot tends to be a little stressful, especially with trying to keep Aims still while helping to pose Ben! Here are some tips that worked well for our family to ensure we got the best shots.

Be Comfortable & Confident

For this shoot, I knew that I would get the best results if we were wearing clothes we felt comfortable in! Getting to wear the adidas adidas Cropped Hoodie. and Don’t Rest Alphaskin Sports Bra. couldn’t have been a better pairing. The cropped look fit just right and the cut was so flattering! I felt better about myself, wearing clothes that made me feel good and that fit right- and it shows in the photos!

I picked out the R.Y.V. Full-Zip Hoodie , knowing that it would look great on Ben! This look is great for fall and perfect for layering for when the temperatures fluctuate. I really love the fact that our styles match, but are still a little different. It made for a very cohesive look in our photos as well!

Think of Posing Tips Beforehand

Sometimes it’s really hard to get guys to pose for a camera! This time I took it upon myself to give Ben five tips in preparation for the photoshoot! I honestly think having these little reminders in his head helped him to be more mindful and therefore more confident during the shoot. Ultimately this resulted in much more natural looking photos, that we both feel great about!

Here are the tips I gave Ben!

  1. Only serious faces away from the camera

  2. Laugh at the camera so you can get a genuine smile

  3. Keep your hand attached to body or surface, (his adidas Training Pants were great so he could casually have his hands in his pockets!)

  4. Move when the camera moves, only pause movement for 3 seconds at a time.

  5. Keep feet flat on the ground

Add a Pop of Color

We all know fall is all about neutrals, but I need at least one pop of color in my photos! I have to say I am obsessed with this blue color, just in time for the new season! The Brilliant Basics Tights were the perfect pop to the gray tones in this look and the Cloudfoam Pure Shoes really pulled the whole look together! Ben in the Own The Run 3-Stripes Crew Sweatshirt was a great compliment as well! He loved this sweatshirt because it’s long sleeved but lightweight enough to make the perfect transitional piece!
