Homemade Black & White Hot Cocoa Board

This post is sponsored by Ghirardelli but all opinions are my own.

Would the holiday season really feel like the holidays without a hot cocoa board? 😆

This season is all about getting together and sharing the good times with the ones you love. What would the good times be without a little Ghirardelli, right? Homemade hot cocoa is our family’s favorite treat, so I decided to surprise them and make a Homemade Holiday Hot Cocoa Board for us to celebrate the season with. To start off the surprise, I ran out to Sam’s Club and picked up a bag of each Ghirardelli Dark Melting Wafers and Ghirardelli White Melting Wafers. I had just run out of my last bag, so it was time to restock! I usually keep both kinds stocked in my pantry for fun baking or desserts like this. Making Ghirardelli candy is something else we love using the bags for and it’s the perfect indoor family activity when it gets cold out. I love giving each of my homemade treats a dip in the melted wafers for a smooth finish and glossy shine, with no need for tempering. Simply melt, dip, decorate and enjoy! They turn out perfect and delicious every time! I picked up a few other essentials while I was out at Sam’s Club, went home, and got to work on my board!

Homemade Black & White Hot Chocoa

What you’ll need:

One 1/2 gallon of milk

1 cup Ghirardelli Dark Melting Wafers

3/4 cup Ghirardelli White Melting Wafers

2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Holiday sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Turn your crockpot to low and add milk, Dark Melting Wafers, White Melting Wafers, vanilla extract, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir together.

  2. Cook for 2 hours. Make sure you’re stirring occasionally so nothing burns!

  3. Once the Melting Wafers are melted and everything is equally mixed, turn your slow cooker to “keep warm” and give your creation a taste. Don’t be afraid to toss in fun additions to make it your own!

  4. If you want to be extra like me, rim the side of the mug with melted chocolate and sprinkles.

  5. Using a ladle, fill your favorite mugs up and get ready for a cozy night in!

Creating the board

Once the hot cocoa is nice and hot, it’s time to get the board ready. This board is all about drink additions, so I’ll be including our favorite cookies, small and large marshmallows, extra Ghirardelli Dark and White Melting Wafers, mini cinnamon buns, and other yummy treats!

A small side board is perfect for a cozy family night in, but it can be taken to the next level for larger holiday parties. Once the hot cocoa additions are neatly arranged and the board is decorated with seasonal greenery, it’s time to snuggle up!

The surprise went so well! They loved the family hot cocoa night and I can’t wait for our next one. Using Ghirardelli Melting Wafers made all the difference. Ghirardelli Makes Life a Bite Better!
