It’s no doubt that the last six months have been unpredictable. A lot of our summer plans have been cancelled and we have had to make adjustments to childcare, vacations, and things to do this season from home. Although our county went to a green phase this past week, there are still a lot of restrictions on things to do while still practicing social distancing. We’ve had to get creative already with the things we do to keep Aimery busy and entertained this summer!

Instead of dwelling on the things we can’t do and places we can’t go, I am changing my perspective to focus on what we CAN do this summer. I hope to enjoy this slower season as a family, while still doing some fun things that are available in our area. Keep reading for 6 ways we are making this summer the best one yet!

LOTS OF POOL DAYS

The number one thing we will be doing to stay busy this summer is lots of pool days. A lot of the pools around us are open and are a great way to stay active, and cool! On pool days, I always make sure to pack lots of snacks, sunscreen, and pool toys for Aimery. We love SwimWays Spring Floats to relax during the summer days at the pool! Aimery loves to take a break from swimming on Swimways Huggables - this pool float is oversized and enormously fun! He loves that the huggables float can “hug” him while he relaxes from a long pool day. This float also includes a built-in cup holder, so he can stay hydrated at the same time!

Ben and I both love using The Original Spring Float, since it’s a hammock style float that features durable fabric-covered inflation and a soft cooling mesh bed! It allows us to relax while staying cool on hot summer days. Both of these floats are available at Walmart, Target, and Amazon!

GOING TO THE BEACH AND LAKE

We already went to the beach this summer, and have two lake trips planned! This season at home is the perfect opportunity to get outside and visit a local beach and lake - while socially distancing, of course!

RESORT STAYCATIONS

Staycations are always my favorite kind of vacation because we are able to explore the area we live in, while traveling as a family! Staying local is also very convenient while having young kids, so no one has to endure a long road trip. We plan to head a few hours north this weekend to stay at a local resort in the Poconos Mountains for a change of scenery!

HIKING AS A FAMILY

Hiking is a great way to stay active during the warmer months, and something the whole family will enjoy! There are a lot of trails in our area and I plan for our family to spend time exploring them together!

TRAMPOLINE PARKS

Our local trampoline park opened and we decided to get Aimery a season pass to escape the heat on those really hot days. We love taking Aimery to the trampoline park because it allows him to have fun while staying extremely active - he is always worn out after an hour of jumping!

PLANTING A GARDEN

Aimery has loved to grow tomatoes this summer! Planting a garden as a family has been so much fun, and I’m excited to continue growing fruits and vegetables with Aimery this season.
